The Mike Loyd Report · Volume Two

Creative Mike the Rapper

Hip hop for the future. Atlanta posture, Winston-Salem roots.

The rapper

Michael Loyd Jr. raps as Creative Mike the Rapper. In his own words: “Hip hop for the future. I use music to change our culture and influence my people.” The songwriting is poetic like Kendrick Lamar and clear like J. Cole. A journalist at heart, with a microphone.

The records, the books, the coffee company: all of it sits inside the same Atlanta sensibility, the same Black Southern voice, the same position-having posture. Dope Coffee Music (DCMG), the family label, has been running since 2020. Mike’s cousin Stace Loyd produces and runs point as VP of Music. This is a family enterprise, producers and writers and roasters under one roof, and the catalog reflects that. No tourist energy. No borrowed swagger. Just a grown Black man from Atlanta with something to say, a microphone, and the patience to say it right.

Ghost Millennial Heroes

The latest project. The third drop in a 2025 trio with Old Friends and God Shit. Boom-bap that remembers, soulful and jazz-leaning, nostalgic yet progressive. Stace produces. Mike writes the way he runs the company: clear, hold, build.

The catalog

Eight projects, twenty-one years. The arc starts in a dorm room and ends, for now, in a 6,000 square foot Decatur HQ with a vinyl wall.

The Mike Loyd Report

A nine-track dissertation in hip-hop. Standouts: Spinach, Venus (featuring Chel, his wife), S.O.P., Black Card. Tied to the Ethiopian Dripp coffee SKU, cold brew with Harriet Tubman imagery and QR codes on the can. The album you can drink.
