A Forthcoming Book by Michael Loyd Jr.

The Holy Betrayal of
Negro Jews In The Diaspora
1492. Two exiles, same year.
One you’ve heard of. The other you haven’t.
A reclamation of the destroyed Jewish communities of West Africa — the Bilad al-Sudan, Touat, the trans-Saharan exile networks — and what their erasure cost the descendants who carry that bloodline into the American South without knowing it. Written from a Black Church of Christ pew. Argued in plain English. Refusing to apologize for any of it.
From the Author’s Note
I am a Black man from the American South. I grew up in a Black Church of Christ, in a family that read the Bible close and sang it loud. I am not writing this book to convert anybody, and I am not writing it to argue my way into anybody’s tradition. I am writing it because there is a story missing from the shelf my grandmother left me, and the only honest thing to do with a missing story is to go look for it.
It is not a confession of faith. It is a reclamation of culture.
